For many people, hiring a decorator is a new experience. With visions of a more beautiful home, making use of a professional decorator for guidance & support can make good sense. This very often leads to a handful of potential questions before beginning the process. What should be expected? What does it cost? What do I get for my money? Etc…

I’ve put together a list of common questions and answers based on how I operate and hope you’ll find this information helpful as you move forward in your decision making process.

(1) What will happen during our first meeting?

We will go through the room(s) where you want changes. I will offer suggestions for any of your design dilemmas. We will discuss color schemes, furniture placement, new furniture selections, window treatments and any other design questions you may have. I will try to incorporate as much of your existing décor into the new design if that is what you request. We will go over your budget and after reviewing what you would like to do, will advise on your budget amount (is it realistic? Will you need to prioritize?).

(2) What will be expected of me at that first meeting?

Having some pictures (from magazines or online) of rooms you like, helps me assess your tastes and incorporate those into my suggestions – this is about applying my expertise and experience to YOUR tastes ~ this is your home and it should reflect your personality and serve your lifestyle

(3) What happens after the first meeting?

Some clients only need a plan to get them going, but others want more help. For  those who want help, pricing structure is determined following the consultation and is based on the services needed.  We can do as little or as much as you need.

(4) What kind of help do you offer?

Any or all of the following:

1. Develop color scheme (paint design)
2. Select furniture/furniture layout
3. Window treatments (beautiful, unique, one of kind tailored for your home)
4. Rug selection
5. Accessorizing
6. Shopping
7. Floral arrangements
8. Art selection
9. Lighting selection
10. Flooring selection
11. Kitchen counters and cabinet design

(5) Do you have subcontractors available?

We are proud to refer you to our subcontractors. We also offer Project Management.

(6) Do you get discounts?

With many of my sources, I do get a discount. I share these discounts with you. These savings can substantially offset your design fees

(7) Do I have to do everything at once?

Absolutely not! We will go as fast or as slowly as you feel comfortable with and what your budget allows.
